I picked up this clone of the awarded Beallara Marfitch 'Howard's Dream' AM/AOS on eBay the spring that I moved out of Chicago; it was inexpensive and the plant looked interesting. It opened about 10 of those huge (4-5") intricately patterend purple flowers. At about midday, they smell fainly of licorice. Unfortunately, this plant never adjusted as well as I would have liked from being grown in Hawaii to being grown on my windowsill. The plant ended up being a disappointment; it only ever put up scrawny growths and never would flower again. I lost it in the recent black rot epidemic.
