This photoset is from an afternoon hike in Marlborough Forest.  The star of the day was the eastern prarie fringed orchid Platanthera leucophaea, growing out in a sedge fen alongside Pogonia ophioglossoides and Calopogon tuberosus.  I also saw Cypripedium arietinum, Cypripedium reginae, and Malaxis brachypoda setting seed, and Epipactis helleborine in bud.  The hike was very difficult and the mosquitoes and biting flies were merciless, but there were so many orchids!
