These pictures are an afternoon hike through natural areas in Morris county.  We found vegetative Cypripedium acaule and blooming Goodyera pubescens, but by far, the highlight of the trip was finding Triphora trianthophora in bloom.  This elusive plant only opens its flowers for a day, and doesn't even appear to emerge from the ground every year.  It's ranked S1 in the state (1-5 occurrences), and is the thirty-second type of orchid I've seen in New Jersey.
