These photographs are from a trip to the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.  The first stop was at the Garden of the Gods recreational area, which is a bit tourist-trappy, but worth tolerating the people for the spectacular landscape.  The second place, High Knob, is a bit more off the beaten path and has an interesting trail that loops around the High Knob.
