These pictures are from a trip through natural areas in Sussex County, NJ.  I was able to find both of our whorled pogonias on the same trip.  The former, Isotria verticillata, was setting seed while the latter, Isotria medeoloides, was vegetative.  I've been searching for I. medeoloides for a very long time, and it is the fourty-sixth orchid I've found in New Jersey.
