This photoset is from a visit to a number of locations in the Washington, DC area.  I visited three known populations of Platanthera peramoena to learn more about what to look for in my home state of New Jersey, where it is even more rare than in the DC area.  I even saw a few white individuals, something purple and fringed, and a population of Platanthera ciliaris.  I was not expecting P. peramoena to be so large; most plants were at least three feet tall, and one monster was at least five!
